Significance of Navaratri

Why we celebrate Navratri?

Navratri is a nine-night devotional service dedicated to the worship of Durga Mata (Nav Ratri literally means 9 nights). Durga Mata, like Sati Mata and Parvati Mata, is a manifestation of the divine, Adi Shakti the wife of God Shiva. Other names for this form of divine energy are Devi and Mata. God is presented in Hinduism as a combination of two aspects: The transcendental aspect is presented as the masculine principle and the dynamic aspect is presented as the feminine principle. The transcendent side of God is static, the dynamic side is mobile and consists of energy. Shakti is the executive force. The force that sets creation in motion. The transcendent is pure consciousness. Durga Mata is considered the "Goddess of war".

Durga Mata has fought an intense battle with the invincible demon Mahishasura for 9 days. On a ninth day, she beheaded the demon, so that peace reigned. Navratri is celebrated twice a year, the first period is in the month of March / April and the second period is in the month of September / October. These dates differ per year because they are determined by the Lunar calendar. During the nine nights of devotional service, the nine manifestations of Durga Mata are honoured. Day 1 On the first day, Durga Mata is worshipped in the form of Shailputri. In the world we find ourselves in, materialism and success are at the centre. This ultimately also leads to fear of failure and frustration. Shailputri therefore also creates a sense of satisfaction. Day 2 The second day is dedicated to Devi Brahmacharini, this destroys the ignorance of the devout and promotes spiritual wisdom. In other words, the inner is stabilized. Day 3 On the third day, Chandraghanta is honoured to come to self-understanding; this is an important part of being able to banish the negative in yourself. Day 4 The fourth day is devoted to Kushmanda; through her blessing, it is possible to grow spiritually. Day 5 The fifth day is dedicated to the worship of Skanda Mata. It destroys pain and suffering in the devout. The suffering is caused by our attachment to the earthiest existence. Day 6 On the sixth day, Devi Katyayani is revered, by receiving her blessing, the domestic happiness will greatly increase and the happiness between the devout and his / her neighbours. Solidarity and generosity are thus strongly developed. Day 7 The seventh day is a day on which Ma Kali is worshipped, She destroys the negative, including demons and the like in the world and in the universe. Day 8 On this eighth day, Devi Maha Gauri is worshipped, she embodies the Vedas and other sacred scriptures. Receiving her blessing makes it possible to apply the essentials of the sacred scriptures in our lives. This allows one to do the right thing. Day 9 Siddhidatri is worshipped on the last day of Navratri; on this day Adi Shakti will bless her devotees with higher wisdom and awareness. In recent days, Adi Shakti has been worshipped in various manifestations. As soon as we enter the higher consciousness, It transcends into its transcendent form, the pure consciousness. So during Navratri people actually worship Adi Shakti, the source of all energy. By worshipping Her, we pray that She would purify our lives and bring us health, joy, peace and well-being. The worship of the Devis during the nine days consists of singing bhajans, songs of praise to the Devis, offering prasad, chanting mantras, meditating and praying for personal wishes. All this is to purify the mind of the devotee and thereby prepare him for spiritual growth.

Maha Kumbh Mela 2021 Haridwar

Haridwar Maha Kumbh Mela 2021

Kumbh Mela is the most sacred gathering of Hindus attracting millions of pilgrims from all over the world. It is believed that just one bath in Ganga during Kumbh Mela can cleanse your soul and make you free from all your sins. Kumbh Mela can be defined as the largest gathering of people for a religious purpose in the world.

The Location of Kumbh Mela varies from time to time. The sacred story behind Kumb Mela says when the gods and demons were fighting in the sky for the possession of amrita, the drops of amrita fell on four places where Kumbh Mela is now held. One of which is Haridwar. The Kumbh Mela and the Ardh Kumbh Mela are held every twelfth and sixth year at the banks of Ganga in Haridwar.
According to the astrologers, the Kumb Mela is held in Haridwar when Jupiter enters Aquarius and the Sun enters Aries. It is believed that this planetary position purifies the waters of Ganga at a certain spot known as Har ki Pauri located on the banks of River Ganges in Haridwar where the water becomes nectar during these days.

According to a popular legend: once when the observer / Preserver of the world "the God Vishnu" ordered the divinity and the demons to do the mixing of the sea together so they put a hill in the centre of the sea called "Mandrachal Parvat "and used the 7-mouthed snake as the rope. After the gods and demons did the mixing of the sea in which 14 elements emerged.

  • White elephant (Airawat)
  • the Tree of life (kalpavraksha)
  • the shell
  • the diamond (khostubh mani)
  • the horse
  • the moon
  • the bow
  • the first cow
  • Laxmi (goddess of money)
  • the god of the Ayurveda
  • the poison (Halahala)
  • the nectar .. etc.

When the nectar came out everyone wanted to drink it so the battle between them began, the gods and demons fought for 12 days to get it. To solve this problem Vishnu turned into a beautiful woman. When the demons saw her, they immediately fell in love with her because they didn't know she was the God Vishnu. He only made the Gods drink the nectar that the demons and thus the Gods became immortal.

When Vishnu was offering the nectar to the gods some drops of the nectar fell to the ground in 4 different places in India and for this reason the Kumbh Mela is celebrated in 4 places. Haridwar, Prayagraj (Prayag), Nasik, and Ujjain where the nectar droplets fell.

Another legend tells that Gods and demons competed for the most precious gift, the Sacred Urn, Kumbh, which contained Amritha, the nectar of immortality. The God Vishnu turned into a crow and managed to steal the urn and with it he fled, chased by demons. During his escape, he stopped 4 times on earth to rest. Each time a few drops of Nectar came out of the pot, wetting the ground. From these drops, the 4 sacred cities were born. The escape lasted 12 days in all, but since a day of the gods corresponds to a year of men, and so the Maha Kumbh Mela is celebrated every 12 years.

Kumbha Mela dates in 2021 at Haridwar.

Actually, Kumbh Mela starts from the Establishment of Dharma Dhwaja in Akhadas. This year due to Covid 19 Situation Govt. of Uttrakhand decide to make shorten this event.

First Shahi Snan will start from Mahashivaratri 11th of March 2021. Somvati Amavasya will be also Shahi Snan on 12th April 2021 then Baisakhi 14th April, Ram Navami 21st April, and Chaitra Purnima on 27th April 2021 will be the last Shahi Snan.

There was covid 19 negative report was mandatory but now anyone come to Kumbhmela without covid 19 negative reports. After 11th March 2021 Shahi Snan it is not mandatory now.

Tourists from every corner of the world flock to Haridwar during the Kumbh Mela season to watch these Naga Baba meditate and perform other rituals. The identification features of this sect of sadhus include being naked, long knotty hair and a body smeared with ashes.

Even when the mercury dips down to a single digit, they continue to meditate and observe different rituals without being hindered in the least. These Naga Sadhus belong to different 'akharas, meaning camps. A number of akharas participate in the Haridwar Kumbh Mela, each having its own group of Naga Babas.

During the Kumbh Mela in Haridwar, the Naga Babas can be seen performing different types of Yogasanas. To watch them busy meditating, travellers need to remain close to the Ganga ghats in Haridwar. You will be surprised to know that these Naga Sadhus can thrive merely on herbs. Interacting with the Naga Babas is seen as a rare opportunity to know things that are so out of the world yet belong to us. These sadhus make a pilgrimage to the Kumbh Mela to perform various types of Yogic asanas, Sashtang Dandthvad being the most prominent one.

You will be deemed fortunate if you catch sight of these Naga Sadhus in some other Yogic postures like hanging from the branch of a tree.

While you visit the Akhada (or camp) of Naga Babas, you will see them indulge in smoking 'chilum', a pot of clay to hold bhang, the narcotic marijuana.

Pilgrims also flock to the Akhadas of Naga Babas in large number. When you plan a tour to the Kumbh Mela, do try to find an opportunity to get to one of the Akhadas and interact with the Naga Babas. But, keep your cameras poised!

WHO IS BAGALAMUKHI ( PITAMBARA)?

Bagalamukhi is the Eighth Mahavidya

Bhagwati Bagalamukhi (बगलामुखी), Bagala or Maa Pitambara  (माँ पीतांबरा)  is the eighth Mahavidya in the famous series of the 10 Mahavidyas.

The word "BAGALA" is a distorted form of Valga, meaning that bridles or reins, like horses, are placed in and around the mouths of animals to control them. Mukha means face. BAGALAMUKHI is thus understood as the one who canShe has a golden yellow colour and is therefore also known as Pitambari or Pitambara Maa. Pita is yellow).

Expounding the good power of the Goddess Baglamukhi the text Mantra Maharnnav (मन्त्र महार्णव) states -"The Mantra of the Goddess has the facility of the divine weapon Brahmastra instilled in it and the Goddess simply strikes terror in and paralyses the enemies of her Sadhaks. Repetition of her Mantra is enough to prevent even a tempest."

Bagala (the Goddess who seizes the Tongue): She is identified with the second night of courage and is that the power or Shakti of cruelty. She is described as the Devi with three eyes, wearing yellow clothes and gems, the moon as her diadem, wearing Champaka blossoms, with one hand holding the tongue of an enemy and with the left spiking him, thus do you have to meditate on the paralyser of the three worlds.

She rules magic for the suppression of an enemy's gossip. These enemies even have an inner meaning, and therefore the peg she puts through the tongue could also be construed as a peg or paralysis of our own prattling talk. She rules deceit which is at the guts of the foremost speech. She can during this sense be considered as a terrible or Bhairavi sort of Matrika Devi, the mother of all speech.

According to "Todala Tantra", her male consort is Maharudra. Seated on the proper of Bagala is that the Maharudra, with one face, who dissolves the universe. The pulling of the demon's tongue by Bagalamukhi is both unique and significant. The tongue, the organ of speech and taste, is often regarded as a lying entity, concealing what is in the mind. The Bible frequently mentions the tongue as an organ of mischief, vanity and deceitfulness. The wrenching of the demon's tongue is therefore symbolic of the Goddess removing what's in essentiality a perpetrator of evil.

Bagalamukhi has Hypnotic Powers.

Bagala may be a Goddess of speech, and intrinsically is said to Tara and considered a sort of her. When sound becomes manifest as light, Tara becomes Bagala. When the brilliant light of speech comes forth, then Tara gains the effulgence of Bagala and cause all things to become still. Bagala is thus the stunning radiance that comes forth from the Divine Word and puts the human or egoistic word to rest.

Bagala gives an influence of speech that leaves others silent and grasping for words. She gives the decisive statement, the irrefutable conclusions, the pronouncement of ultimate truth. Hence she is propitiated for fulfilment in discussions and debates. No one can defeat her because she has the true power of Self-nature.

The weapon that puts an end to all or any conflict and confusion is that the weapon of spiritual knowledge, the weapon of Brahman (Brahmastra). The highest sort of Brahmastra (ब्रह्मास्त्र) is the question "Who am I?" or "What is the Self?"

Bagala turns each thing into its opposite. She turns speech into silence, knowledge into ignorance, power into impotence, defeat into victory. She represents the knowledge whereby each thing must in time becomes its opposite. As the still point between dualities, she allows us to master them. We contact her grace once we see the other hidden in each situation and are not any longer deceived by appearances. To see the failure hidden in success, the death is hidden in life, or the joy hidden in sorrow are ways of contacting her reality. Bagala is that the secret presence of the other wherein each thing is dissolved back to the Unborn and therefore the Uncreate.

Bagala is another of the frightening sorts of the Goddess. Her colour is yellow. She is clad in yellow clothing and is adorned with yellow ornaments and yellow flowers (particularly the champak flower). With her left, she catches hold of her opponent's tongue and together with her right, she strikes him on the top together with her mace. She sits upon a golden throne surrounded by red lotuses. By some accounts, she wears the crescent moon as a jewel on her head.

WHO IS MAHAKALI?

Maha Kali

Kali (Eternal Night): The first Mahavidya is Kali in a corpse. Hugely terrifying, laughing out loud, with hideous teeth, four arms holding a sword and skull and giving gifts to mudras and dispelling fear, wearing a garland of skulls, wildly waving tongue, completely naked (Digambara - dressed in the directions), with only a garland of demonic hands around his waist, with strands of a cascade of black hair piled Kali, who dwells in the centre of the cremation site

Kali - The Goddess of Yogic Transformation

As the chosen deity worshipped by Paramahansa Ramakrishna, one of the famous modern masters of the Hindu tradition, Kali is one of the most important famous of Maha Vidya, but still not well understood, we admire the anger in Ramakrishna: His love, happiness and universal spirit from her are a gift from Kali to us. Kali has already transmitted her message for modernity.

Meaning of Kali

Kali means beauty. The root Kal, from which the name comes, means "to count", "to measure". "Or" set in motion ", hence" time ". It is also related to what is well modelled or measured, hence beauty. Time itself has a movement, a rhythm, a dance that is the basis of all beauty This is also the rhythm of the life force that allows movement.

Kali is dark blue and wears a garland She has her long tongue sticking out and laughs. Sometimes instead of a tongue, she has two fangs. She has four arms and four hands and holds a helicopter head with one hand and one. Time is life. Life is our movement in time. We experience time through our own life force or prana. Kali as time is prana or the life force.

Kali or the divine mother is our life. It is the secret force behind the work of our body systems and life energy. Only through them do we live and it is their intelligence that gives the body such a wonderful order. Kali is the love that exists in the heart of life; that is immortal life that cycles through life and death through the eternal nature of life Birth and permanent death is another meditative approach.

The truth is that our soul, our pursuit of the divine, which is our eternal love, has never died and will never die, so that the things of the spirit and the senses may die and know cosmic life and divine grace us this eternal life But eternal life has Only the immortal can be immortal as nothing can change its own nature. The mortal and the ephemeral must pass. To achieve the eternity that is Kali, our mortal nature must be sacrificed. Thus, Kali appears terrifying and destructive to ordinary vision. The Nirvanic field, the realm of the unborn, the uncreated and the unmanifest. Kali only develops ways to take us further. When his power awakens in us, he works to remove all limitations and attachments so that we can transcend the entire field of the known.

All things are achieved with her. time and breath, but what he achieves is not a merely external act but performs the spiritual work of our rebirth in pure consciousness. It generates energy for him and does the work when we surrender to his strength.

Kali is that the love that exists at the guts of life, which is that the immortal life that endures through both life and death. Maintaining the attention of the eternal nature of life through the cycles of birth and death is another one amongst her meditational approaches. the reality is that our soul, our aspiration towards the Divine, which is our eternal love, never has died and never will die. To be responsive to that enduring aspiration is to die to the items of the mind and therefore the senses, and are available to grasp the cosmic life and Divine grace.

Kali grants us this life. Yet life encompasses a price. Only that which is immortal will be immortal, as nothing can change its own nature. The mortal and therefore the transient must depart this world. to achieve the eternity that's Kali, our mortal nature must be sacrificed. Hence Kali appears frightening and destructive to the standard vision. Kali because the power of death and negation is Nirvana, the state of the dissolution of desire.

Kali develops forms only to require us beyond form. When her force awakens within us she works to interrupt down all limitations and attachments, in order that we'd transcend the whole field of the known. Kali is the power of action or transformation (Kriya-shakti). Through time and breath, all things are accomplished. Yet what she accomplishes isn't mere outer action.

Kali is blueness in colour and wears a garland of skulls. She has her long tongue protruding and is laughing. Sometimes rather than a tongue, she has two fangs. Kali has four arms and 4 hands and holds a head chopper with one hand and a severed head dripping blood with the opposite. along with her other two hands, she makes the mudras of bestowing boons and dispelling fear. She wears a skirt product of human arms. Kali is portrayed as dancing during a cremation ground and striding on a corpse (who is that the style of Lord Shiva himself).

Who Shri Tripura Sundari?

The 3rd Mahavidya "Shri Tripura Sundari"
There are ten Mahavidyas. The Shodashi(षोडशी) or Tripura Sundari is The third Mahavidya. Bhagwati Lalita Tripura Sundari (भगवती ललिता त्रिपुर सुंदरी) is the main deity of Shri Yantra (श्रीयन्त्र). The goddess Tripura Sundari is depicted in her Shodashi (षोडशी) aspect as a sixteen-year-old girl and is believed to represent sixteen kinds of desires. Tripura Sundari, also known as Shodashi, Lalita (ललिता) and Rajarajeshvari (राजराजेश्वरी).

Shodashi (the goddess who is 16 years old): It is the climax of the creative cycle when the entire universe is in full bloom like a flower. She is the presiding Deity of the Shri Vidya form of worship and is contacted either in the central circuit of the Shri Yantra or in your own yantra, the Nava-Yoni Chakra. Her anthropomorphic characteristics are brilliance, manifestation, sweetness, depth, fixity, energy, grace and generosity. She is sitting on the lotus that has blossomed out of the navel of Lord Shiva is a beautiful young girl of 16 years with four arms. Her complexion is like molten gold and Her beauty is continuously seen by Lord Shiva. At one point, she is being made one with Goddess Lakshmi, Lord Vishnu's consort.

Bhagwati Tripura Sundari (त्रिपुरसुंदरी)  - The Beauty of the Three Worlds

Sundari is no ordinary beauty. She is the most blissful and beautiful of all goddesses as she represents the ultimate bliss at the source of all joys. The highest beauty does not reside in any object, although it is not separate from objects. The highest beauty is perception: "to hold the Infinite in the palm of your hand, and eternity in an hour," as the poet Blake so eloquently wrote. Beauty is derived from the light of consciousness that radiates through objects. It is never really contained in any object. Therefore, beauty can never disappear, but rather The light of beauty that we see in things is, therefore, the light of our own consciousness. By discovering it, we contact the sources of infinite delight within us. This is part of the Sundari revelation.

The beauty of perception occurs only when the mind is cleansed of the known when the consciousness is cleansed of its conditioning and rests in pure consciousness without any memory residue. Then everything we see radiates with the light of eternity and is effulgent with the glory of our own Self as the Universal Self. Otherwise, the residue of our thoughts and emotions, like a dark film, obstructs the subtle and transparent beauty and presence in things, even though we can clearly perceive their physical characteristics.

Sundari represents the ultimate beauty of pure perception that arises when we see the entire universe in ourselves when we see all of nature as a reflection of the reality of consciousness. Sundari is, therefore, the beauty of nature but as seen through the spiritual eye of oneness - the view that the entire universe is Brahman (ब्रह्म) - there is nothing but God above, below, within, without, north, south, east or west, past, present or future. Sundari, therefore, is the Goddess of Vedantic knowledge, which is the knowledge of the Supreme or Divine Being. She teaches us that everything is the self and that the world is Brahman or the Absolute. From her perspective, Samsara is Nirvana (निर्वाण); the world of illusion merges with the Absolute. Hence, she is the most beloved Goddess form among Swamis and Vedantic Masters. She represents the knowledge of the Supreme Being.

The entire universe exists for the delight of consciousness, which is the game of the Divine Mother. Creation arises in joy and returns to joy. We are passing figures in the eternal game of it, who have not yet understood the source of the energy that Our pain and suffering is a delusion, a misconception born of ignorance and ego. Because we try to control or possess joy from the standpoint of the separate self, we separate ourselves from the true joy that is universal. the image of joy shows us the way out of our error, which is not denying ourselves happiness but discovering the true happiness we seek, which is to be one with everyone. Lalita awakens the receptive soul to the happiness that underlies everything. things.

The great Yantra or energy pattern that underlines the entire universe, arising from the ॐ mantra. She is the deity who lives on the summit of Mount Meru, the cosmic mountain or the mountain of the spine, and gives the commands through which the entire universe moves. She is the divine love, which is the central motivating force behind the universe and which is the original impulse in our own hearts.

Sundari is also called Rajarajeshvari or "the highest ruler of the universe". All the commands that govern the universe arise from it, including the command that enables us to develop spiritually or to give spiritual teachings in the world. We must seek their command in order to do something meaningful in life. However, their command is not based on authority but on love. To get their approval we just have to be open to their love. What she allows us is to love her and to love everything. However, in order to discover their commands, we must be willing to give up our own selfish desires and try to control things. Tripura Sunday is often depicted as a young girl at the age of 16. As such she is called 16 (षोड़श) or the young girl (बाला). It is at this stage of a woman's life that the delightful aspect of her existence is most pronounced. It is their nature to play, seek new experiences and charm others. Your innocence attracts all that is true and good. Sunday is the power of consciousness, Chit Shakti. It is the consciousness of the Supreme Self, Paramatman(परमात्मन), as one with the Supreme Reality or the Absolute,(परब्रह्म). Because of true knowledge, it is called, Samvit (संवित)  which is the power to understand all things as consciousness itself. Bhagwati Lalita is thus the power of spiritual knowledge (ज्ञान शक्ति), which is more a question of feeling and perception than of thinking and analysis is. That is why she is the form of the goddess most worshipped by those who follow yoga. Bhagwati Shodasi is the form of the goddess who represents the pure consciousness and the bliss that flows from it. It combines the being of Kali (काली) with the knowledge of Tara (तारा) and adds the bliss dimension of spiritual realization.

Magical effects of sound therapy

Indian ancient literature has a mention of chants and sound therapy on multiple occasions to overcome serious illnesses. The “Pran”, “Tejas” and “Ojas”, in the body are the basic elements which control the “Vaat”, “Pitt” and “cuff”. To balance these energies, there is an essential requirement of sounds, waves and mental chants, which have been proved to be very effective. Nowadays many countries are researching in the field of sound healing therapy.

The Tibetan Singing Bowl Session, which is also known as Sound & Vibration Healing Therapy is quite renowned therapy. The sound of singing bowls resonates and vibrates helping one to relax, meditate, sleep or any other benefit you might find from them. In Italy, studies are being carried out on the effects of Mozart Music and its effects on the mind.

The sound healing technique is very effective on our mind waves and brain functions. Due to sound waves, waves and mental chants, the brain creates pneumatic energy which is beneficial for the nerves, veins, arteries and hormonal secretion. These waves create energy with every breath we inhale or exhale.

This combination of generated energy and sound waves re-energise the destroyed cells and fibres and cures blockages and regular practice makes the patient healthy. It has been found beneficial for hypertension and other cardiovascular diseases. “Our physical health is dependent on both bodily and mental health. A healthy mind leads to a healthy body. Navaratri Story.
The story associated with Navratri can be found in various Hindu religious texts like Markandeya Purana, Vamana Purana, Varaha Purana, Shiva Purana, Skanda Purana, Devi Bhagavatam and Kalika Purana. The story of Navratra is the symbolic message of the fact that however glorious and powerful the evil become, in the end, it is the goodness that wins over all of the evil. The story is associated with Maa Durga and Mahisasura, the buffalo headed demon.
The story begins with the life of two sons of Danu called Rambha and Karambha who performed austerities to gain extreme power and authority. When their prayers became deeper and austerities became exceptional, the King of the heaven God Indra got perturbed. Out of fear, he killed Karambha. Rambha, who came to know about his brother’s death, became more stubborn to win over the Gods. He increased the intensity of his austerities and finally got several boons from gods like great brilliance, beauty, invincibility in war. He also asked a special wish of not being killed by either humans or Gods or Asuras.
He then considered himself immortal and started freely roaming in the garden of Yaksha where he saw a female-buffalo and fell in love with her. To express his love, Rambha disguised in the form of a male-buffalo and copulated with the female buffalo. However, soon after that a real male buffalo discovered Rambha mating with the she-buffalo and killed him. It was due to Rambha’s inflated ego that killed him, out of which he has not asked his death to be spared from the wrath of animals. As the pyre of Rambha was organized, the female-buffalo, who was copulated with him jumped into the funeral pyre of Rambha to prove her love. She was pregnant at that time. Thus, a demon came out with the head of a buffalo and human body and he was named Mahisasura (the buffalo headed demon).
Mahishasura was extremely powerful. He defeated the gods and the demons and acquired power over the entire world. He even won over heaven and threw Devtas outside it. He captured the throne of Indra and declared himself to be the lord of the gods. The gods led by Brahma approached Vishnu and Shiva and evaluated them of the situation. In order to save the Gods, the three supreme deities emerged a light of anger, which combined to take the shape of a terrible form and this was Durga. All the gods then granted this Goddess of power with all the supreme weapons they had. This is why; Durga is called the brilliance of all the Gods.
When the goddess was seen by Mahishasura, he was mesmerized by her beauty. He then fell in love with her and proposed to marry her. The goddess said she will marry him if he defeated her in the battle. Then began a scary and terrible battle between both of them which continued for nine days. Finally, on the last day, Durga took the form of Chandika and stood over the chest of Mahishasura and smashed him down with her foot. She then pierced his neck with her spear and cut off his head with her sword. It is the day when Vijayadashmi is celebrated.
